Feeling much better today

About half an hour after I posted yesterday I did end up chucking my guts up. I felt better immediately afterwards so luckily it wasn’t a hanging around kind of stomach bug. In hindsight I did find the fridge door ajar at work when I retrieved my tuna sandwich and there’s no knowing how long it had been that way. In this heat that obviously wasn’t good.

I slept loads too. My first sleep yesterday was about 6 hours. A few hours after I got up did some meditation and got so chilled out I fell asleep again and slept another 7 hours. I now feel caught up from my weird overheated work sleeps over the weekend.

I’m getting more into my new habit of doing a 24-36 hour fast each week. I have breakfast after my final shift of the week and then fast until at least breakfast the following day. I think that the combination of fasting and huge amounts of sleep is a good one, allowing my body time to make repairs. Given the amount of poison I’ve forced through it for almost 3 decades I think my body is probably thankful.

I bought myself a sober treat last night. I subscribed to the headspace meditation app for a year. I fancied a refresher course in meditation and I’ve tried a couple of different apps but didn’t find one that resonated until this. I like the guy’s voice and teaching style a lot. It costs about the same as ONE bottle of wine per month so when I look at it like that it’s a real bargain. If anybody else is tempted there is a currently valid coupon code of MINDFUL which gets you 25% off a year’s subscription.

That’s about it really. It looks like it’s going to be another super hot day here. I’m feeling good, peaceful, creative and motivated so I’m very thankful for that.

Wishing you all a good one too 🙂 x

I really like the headspace app. I used it for a long time. Then I moved on to something else, but Andy changed my thinking.
I think sleep and fasting are awesome additions to healing. Sometimes our digestive system needs a break.
I have recently added glutamine to my morning routine and my digestion has seriously improved.
Take care. Avoid warm tuna sandwiches today!

What did you move on to, another app? Your glutamine results are interesting, I bought some a while back but haven’t been consistent in taking it so can’t evaluate it in my case. I don’t think I’ll eat another tuna sandwich for a while now, warm or cold ;D

No. I’ve tried other apps, but haven’t found one I like as much.
I do a morning sadhana practice of some kundalini yoga and oil self massage.
I practice yoga every day, and for me starting the day with these actions seems to put my mind in the right place.

I was really surprised with the glutamine. I have it by my tooth brush and I take it every morning. I had terrible digestion. I am really impressed with it.

For a little while I actually thought it was giving me stomach aches, but they passed.

It’s always possible to find 10 minutes. And when I am truly rushed I dry skin brush.

Somehow allowing myself flexibility makes it happen. I used to need things to be perfect, or I felt they didn’t “count”. But I have learned better!

Glad you’re feeling better. Sometimes a good upchuck is all we need to reset things!
As far as apps go, I love the Insight one. You can use it as a simple timer (with bells or background or whatnot – or pure silence) or you can use of of thousands of free types of meditations and/or music. It’s fantastic.
But we all love what works for us, so I am so happy you found one that works!
Hope you get to 100% health!

    Blessings
    Paul

Happy Friday my lovely friend. Hope you’re feeling a bit better today? Just wanted to share something with you. I wrote this yesterday. I had my list of 11 written down in my notebook. Somehow when I was typing the list up, I accidentally only typed up ten, missing you! So sorry, my mistake! Here you go. Thank you for all that you’ve done for me this year. https://nowineimfine.wordpress.com/2017/07/06/sunshine-blogger-award/

Thank you, I really appreciate your nomination 🙂 I’ve decided to keep my blog award-free because I don’t have enough time to do this and normal posts. Your lovely comments and feedback are rewarding enough. Have a lovely weekend 🙂 x

I believe that fasting is a wonderful way to reset both body and mind. And while I do enjoy cooking when I have the time, I love being free from that “chore” for a day. Stomach bugs (or tuna bugs) are miserable to go through- glad you’re feeling better.

Glad to hear things are well for you and you’re in a good place. I also find the fasting intriguing and something I may try after I gain some longer sober time. =)

Oh, my daughter and I have just started been the free headspace meditations. We love Andy’s voice and pretend he’s the blue monster wearing headphones, ha. Good luck with meditation. It’s not easy (for me) but it is calming.

Thanks, you too. I’m finding it a huge help and I’m starting to notice good effects on my daily headstate. That’s an interesting bit of visualisation ;D

It’s funny how we start divvying up our former drinking-money once we’re sober for a while. I set aside the cost of a 12 pack of beer a month to disperse as Patreon donations among people who keep me inspired.
